Antwerp 1920 – Olympic Games
Antwerpians are rightly proud that their city is the only one in Belgium to have hosted the Olympic Games. This happened in 1920, exactly one hundred years ago. We cannot let this centenary pass unnoticed. This is why we want to tell you this incredible story.

Indeed, it was quite an achievement to organise these Games in only 16 months. This achievement was continued on a sporting level, with Belgium winning no fewer than 36 medals, including 14 gold ones. Belgium even won the soccer tournament! Thus the 1920 Olympic Games became the most successful ones ever for our country.
Your guide will lead you to the area of the Olympic Beerschot Stadium in the Kiel district, where quite a few streets have names that remind us of this event. In this neighbourhood, the city of Antwerp has put up banners and big stickers referring to this illustrious past. Your guide will tell you stories that will bring the old photos to life.
