Welcome, it’s Dinner Time in the DIVA museum!

This guided tour lets you discover how the table was set for noblemen and wealthy citizens in Europe from the 16th century to the present day. During the 20th century, people ate out more. Only for festive occasions was the table lavishly set.

In turn, contemporary designers are rediscovering table aesthetics by exploring the boundary between utilitarian and artistic objects. Together with a DIVA guide, you discover how taste and aesthetics change over the years. Be fascinated by this culinary journey through time!

Take a visit to DIVA, the diamond, jewelry and silver museum in Antwerp, the world diamond capital for 575 years.

On this guided tour, you will look back at Antwerp’s role as the leading trading city in the 16th and 17th centuries. That international trade drove the production of art and luxury. Moreover, Antwerp has the second largest port in Europe, where goods from all over the world arrive and are distributed.

Practical information:

  • This guided tour is suitable for secondary school groups
  • Maximum 15 pupils per group, maximum 2 groups at the same time
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Guided visits are available from 10.30 to 15.30. The tours start every hour.

Is DIVA accessible for people with reduced mobility?

DIVA is accessible for (electric) wheelchairs and walker. All exhibition rooms are accessible by lift. To use the lift, you sometimes have to deviate from the planned route. Our staff in the museum halls will be happy to show you the way. Adapted toilets can be found on floor -1. DIVA provides a wheelchair and 20 folding chairs, which are available at the front desk.

Can I enter DIVA with a stroller?

Strollers are allowed in the museum rooms. We do ask that all bags attached to the stroller be placed in the lockers (on floor -1). Would you prefer to store the stroller during your visit? You can do so in the space provided. Please talk to our staff in the entrance hall. You will find two changing tables in the toilets.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed, except for guide dogs and other certified assistance dogs.

  • DIVA’s experienced team of guides are eager to give you the tour. For an hour a half,  they will take you through the museum to tell you more about our eating habits from the 16th century to the present day.
  • After the 90-minute tour, you are free to visit the exhibition(s).
