Corona update: Due to the current measures, it is not possible to make a booking for either February – March. A city walk in the open air can take place from 1 April 2021 and a group visit/tour in a city museum is possible as of 1 May 2021. These dates are subject to the corona measures that are in force at that time. The corona measures limit the maximum number of participants as well. In recent years Antwerp Central Station has been declared to be one of the most beautiful train stations in the world.
From 01/11/2020 11:00 pm (UTC) until 31/12/2030 10:59 pm (UTC)
The walking tour starts on Astridplein, where you have views of the facade. Here the guide will tell you the history of this majestic building. Later you will visit the beautiful station hall, built to the same model as the Pantheon in Rome. The hall is full of symbols referring to the rich citizens who lived in Antwerp around 1900. The iron train shed with its three hinged arches is a technological high point from 100 years ago. This is also the reason why this station is called ‘the railway cathedral’. During the final part of this walking tour we will pay attention to the tunnelling, which is one of the highlights of the tou and also to the new Kievit station.
