Your eyes and ears will be in overdrive during every minute of this exploration of the Snijders&Rockox House. Frans and Nicolaas’ world of animals is never-ending. In some of the paintings you’ll see animals on their own, but you’ll mostly be looking for hidden creatures and for beautiful little insects. You’ll also find animals depicted on boxes, bowls, sculptures or other small objects. The guide at the Snijders&Rockox House will help you to search and to look, but most of all to discover through a shared dialogue!

Our primary goal for this pupil target group is to discover a world they already know quite well. Children are initiated into the world of animals from an early age, through their cuddly toys, pets, farm visits, zoos and walks around ponds and parks. The sense of wonder is still very strong: little animals seem cute, big ones can be a little scary. Animals evoke all sorts of responses and form part of our earliest memories.
The animal kingdom is the ideal subject with which to guide children into the world of art and to teach them that people, as well as animals, have been around for a long time, even 400–500 years ago! It can be surprising for them to discover, for instance, that animals have also been depicted in different contexts or used as symbols, and that the animal world sometimes imitates that of human beings.

- This guided tour is suitable for primary schools (9 to 12 years old)
- Maximum 20 children per group
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Museum admission: free of charge for school groups
