Immaculate taste. Fritz Mayer van den Bergh and his collection – secondary education

During his short life, Fritz Mayer van den Bergh collected some 3,000 art objects, including ‘Mad Meg’ by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Fritz’s hunger for art was insatiable. Together with his mother Henriëtte, he scoured Europe looking for treasures to buy. After his sudden death, his mother fulfilled his wish and established a museum, known as the Museum Mayer van den Bergh, for his breathtaking collection. When you visit the Museum Mayer van den Bergh today, you will enter a world full of paintings, altarpieces, sculptures, manuscripts and tapestries, all displayed in an atmospheric interior full of delicate, small art treasures.
