More than two million people left Antwerp for America on a Red Star Line ship. Some went alone, others with their families. Some were reunited with their family only years later. And not everyone emigrated forever. A lot of emigrants wanted to make money quickly and then return home.

In the Red Star Line Museum, we let young people think about the fundamental choices that migration brings with it. About decisions that are sometimes final and the impact of those decisions on the whole family. These are themes that are still relevant today. That’s why we send the young people off to undertake research after their visit. We ask them to search for stories in their own environment and record them for the museum.
Practical information:
- This guided tour is suitable for students of the third grade of secondary school
- Maximum 15 persons per group, maximum 2 groups at the same time
- Duration: 90 minutes
