Fritz Mayer van den Bergh was first and foremost a collector. During his short life he collected around 3,000 works of art. Animals are often depicted in art and are sometimes cleverly hidden: cats, robins, horses, pigs, butterflies, deer, … All of these animals will be familiar to you, but some of them were previously either unknown or very rare. Moreover, each animal gives a special meaning to a work of art. And some animals even dare to claim the leading role.
