The MoMu Fashion and Sustainability Talk illuminates the many facets of sustainability across the Antwerp fashion scene.

This presentation does not show where you can shop ecologically, or which designers and labels are sustainable. Instead, we want you to see how the principles of sustainability are everywhere.

Sustainability is an integral part of today’s world. But what does the word ‘sustainability’ mean to you? There are numerous definitions of this concept, but how does it apply to the fashion industry? And how do Belgian designers approach this concept?

Find out together with a MoMu guide during this interactive presentation, supported by archive footage from the MoMu Library. During the presentation we highlight examples from the past and present. At the same time we reflect on our role as consumers in the ‘take-make-waste’ system.

What are you already doing right and what is your outlook on the future? What is, according to you, the role of the government in all of this? This presentation is an exchange of questions, answers and ideas.

Practical information:

  • This guided tour is suitable for secondary and post-secondary school groups
  • Maximum 45 persons per group, accompanied by maximum 2 teachers/supervisors

Can you visit the museum with walking difficulties?

All of the public areas in the building (exhibition rooms, cloakroom, toilets, library, café and shop) are either on the ground floor or easily accessible by lift. Several seating areas are provided throughout the building and, upon reservation, a wheelchair is also available. Every visitor can make use of a portable folding chair in the exhibition rooms.

How can I reach the museum? Can I park my car/bike near the museum?

The museum is easily accessible by public transport. There are bus and tram stops within walking distance. Take the metro 9 or 15 from Antwerp-Central train station (Diamant) to the premetro station at Groenplaats. If you come by bike, you can use the Velo station in the Drukkerijstraat. MoMu does not have its own parking or bicycle parking. If you come by car, you can park in a public car park nearby or park for free on the Kaaien.

Can I take pictures in the museum?

Do not take photographs with a flash. Selfie sticks are not allowed. Always ask permission for professional photographic and audiovisual recordings.

Can I enjoy a drink or a meal in the museum?

You cannot eat or drink in the museum halls. There is a museum café where you can get something to drink or eat, either to consume inside the café or to take away. It is not possible to make reservations for groups. There is, however, a large table that can be used by groups.

Is the cloakroom mandatory?

Backpacks are not allowed in the exhibition rooms. There are lockers with keys. Large groups can use a group locker.

Is there a museum shop?

There is a small museum shop with fun MoMu products. Be sure to swing by!
