When visiting the oldest printing house in the world, you won’t be able to wait to get started yourself. You will discover how type was cast in Christopher Plantin’s time. Arrange letters in mirror image in a composing stick, make up a complete page and print it on a genuine press.
You get to do it yourself. You learn from an expert. You understand how a book was made.
Practical information:
The workshop will take place on the ground floor. Wheelchair users can only visit the ground floor. The museum is a historic house that grew organically over centuries. That’s why there are several steps on the first floor to go from one room to another, which is not possible to navigate with a wheelchair. The guide will adapt the workshop accordingly.
