Museum Mayer van den Bergh

Fritz Mayer van den Bergh and his collection

During his short life, Fritz Mayer van den Bergh collected some 3,000 art objects, including Mad Meg by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Fritz’s hunger for art was insatiable. Together with his mother Henriëtte, he scoured Europe looking for treasures to buy. After his sudden death, his mother fulfilled his wish and established a museum, known as the Museum Mayer van den Bergh, for his breathtaking collection.
