You cannot miss the north tower of the Cathedral of Our Lady. At 123 metres, it towers over Antwerp. The tower was built by order of the city and served for centuries as both a belfry or watchtower and as a bell tower. The ringing of bells gave structure to the day or warned the residents in case of fire or war. The carillon in turn sprinkled cheerful melodies out over the city. The people of Antwerp remain extremely proud of their tower. For many visitors, it is a unique example of Gothic architecture.

But you can only really experience the tower when you climb the 515 steps to the top… The inside of the tower is at least as impressive as the outside. Once you reach the top, you get a magnificent view of the city and the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can even see the Atomium in Brussels.
