Did you think the famous Antwerp Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens was dead? Well, you are wrong. Rubens is alive and kicking and still looks pretty good for a gentleman of almost 450 years. Therefore he will take you in person and with great enthusiasm on a unique walk through the seventeenth-century city center and tells you surprising stories about his life and work on various special Antwerp places that were important for him.

On May 30, 1640, Peter Paul Rubens died. He was an extraordinary artist and a brilliant painter but also a superstar, a top entrepreneur, a diplomat, a spy and above all a true Antwerp citizen. Four centuries later, Rubens has inexplicably risen from the dead and takes people on a walk through the final days of Antwerp’s golden age and shows them the most important places from his unique life. His beautiful Rubens House where he worked and lived with his two wonderful wives and where he welcomed the Queen of France. He visits ‘De Cleynen Sint-Arnold’, his mother’s home where he spent his early years. He takes you to the old ‘Papenschool’ where he learned Latin together with Balthasar Moretus and he visits the Cathedral where he shows some of his most important paintings. Before you realize it you will be back in the 17th century.

Of course you can. Rubens offers guided tours for even one person, or more. In that case, you pay the basic rate for 10 people.
Yes of course. Although there were no wheelchairs in the 17th century, Rubens ensures that wheelchair users can also get through his city safely and without any problems.
Yes! Rubens can handle the rain well. Each walk always takes place as scheduled, unless during a heavy storm.
During the tour, we usually also visit the Cathedral of Our Lady. An extra entrance fee is charged for this. For residents of the province of Antwerp, a visit to the cathedral is free. You can purchase your entrance ticekts via this link: Visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady
The individual tours are in Dutch, English or French. Rubens is a man of the world so depending on the composition of the group he will change his language. For the group tours you can of course ask in advance which language you want. If necessary we can also provide a Spanish interpreter.
