With an eccentric coffin maker as guide, we embark on a quest for the true soul of the old castle. That soul is hidden among the spirits that roam around the ancient castle walls like ghosts. They witness a wild and turbulent past, allowing us to discover fabulous histories from dark ages. Tales of invading enemies, brave knights and cunning villains who find no peace after all the things they did.
Along the way, we seek answers to questions such as: Has anyone ever been able to conquer the mighty ramparts? What happened when the “kolfdrager” blew his horn? Who carved a long text in the dungeon, awaiting his own death sentence? Why did Antwerpians besiege the castle, and were they able to free the prisoners?
We unravel facts and fables from the mists of time, take a wild ride through the history of mediaeval Antwerp, discover the secrets of the lost souls and always return to the eternal anchor point, the old castle Het Steen.
