Masculinities – secondary education

The exhibition Masculinities: Liberation Through Photography examines how masculinity has been shown, experienced, performed and socially constructed in different ways in film and photography from the 1960s to the present. In doing so, Masculinities questions social expectations and gender norms. A plea for the idea of multiple masculinities, as opposed to that of ‘the ideal man’. What does it mean to be male? What are the norms that our society attaches to masculinity?
