Did you know that in the middle of the Antwerp’s commercial heart there is a real palace? Surely you have already walked past it. A wealthy entrepreneur from Antwerp had it built in 1745, Napoleon bought the palace in 1811 and had it refurbished. But he was never there. It was the Dutch King Willem I who stayed in the palace regularly. In the 19th century King Leopold II ordered the construction of the impressive hall of mirrors. The latest restoration of the Palace on the Meir took place in the 21st century. Now the Palace opens to the public again. In addition to the grand building you can also look at the original furniture from Napoleon’s time.
